Last October during my vacation in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, my friend and I took a cab from our Hotel in China Town, KL to Genting Highlands. Our cab driver was an old chinese man.
The drive was long so we engaged in a conversation with him (and he spoke good english). He told us how he came to Malaysia with his wife 45 years ago; how he lost his job in a textile factory after it closed down; how he lost his only son in a car accident and how difficult it is to make ends meet given the high cost of living in KL.
As a young man he had travelled with his wife to many places in China and other parts of South East Asia. Now he was 67. From KL we were heading to Bali, Indonesai. So my friend asked him 'Have you been to Bali?'. His reply was fantastic. 'Not yet.' For fun, my friend asked him whether he had been to Himalayas in India?. Again a fantastic reply. 'Not yet'.
Many people would have simply replied 'no' - indicating no hope of ever going there. Some would even explain that its impossible for them financially or otherwise to get there. This old chinese man in his late 60's driving a cab to make ends meet has not lost hope, not yet. That brings him the power of positive.
